The Guam Museum Foundation, Inc., In Celebration of our 80th Liberation Anniversary,  invites you to join us for THREE NIGHTS at the Museum, to host “A Night at the Movies” on July 10 and 11 at the Museum Theater and “A Night at the Museum…Tuba, Chesa, yan Setbesa” on July 16.

On Wednesday,  July 10 and  Thursday, 11 we will  feature the following films with the theme Hasso: Ti Geran Måmi  (Remember: A War Not of Our Making)  to be shown at 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm both nights.

War for Guam

Discover the compelling story of the Chamorro people during World War II. Despite enduring brutal Japanese occupation, the Chamorros remained loyal to the U.S. The film reveals the post-war struggle as the U.S. military stripped them of their ancestral lands. What began as a story of rescue became one of reoccupation and a new fight for justice.

Along the Ugum River

Based on true events from 1972, this gripping tale follows a CHamoru fisherman who discovers a Japanese soldier straggler. He faces a moral dilemma—should he turn the soldier in or seek vengeance for his family, who were victims of the Imperial Japanese Army during the war?

The general public will be invited to make a donation of $10.00 per person to view these films on the two nights and we have tied it into Wednesday Night Market and Thursday Food Truck Nights so people can enjoy our museum theater and great food served by our local vendors.

The films produced by our local talent share compelling stories of various aspects of the War and how it impacted our people.

On Tuesday, We will celebrate “A Night at the Museum…Tuba, Chesa yan Setbesa Dos”

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, July 16th, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Guam Museum in Hagatna.  The entrance fee per person will be $125.00.

We will feature locally processed Tuba, locally brewed beer, and international beer brands to pair with the best “Chesa” (finger foods) and “Fina’Mames” (desserts) Guam has to offer. We will also be celebrating with entertainment provided by local performers.

Guests will also be able to watch the two featured films shown on July 10, and 11, have access to tour the permanent exhibit, and the rotating exhibit hall while enjoying fine Chamoru cuisine and spirits.

The net proceeds from these events will go towards the maintenance, upkeep of the Museum, assist in the collection of artifacts, and allow the Foundation to continue its mission of supporting our National Treasure.

Si Yu’os Ma’ase for your support. We look forward to celebrating Guam’s 80th Liberation Anniversary at the Guam Museum.
